Position Summary

 

Perform all printing tasks including inspection of copy, correct inks and coatings and maintenance. 

Consistently and efficiently print high quality product per procedures in compliance to ISO 9001 standards. And any other standards required by customer.

 

Responsibilities

Meet standards required by customer.

 

1st Pressman 

Set and control ink fountains and water system.  

Use, maintain and troubleshoot color control tools 

Ensure proper register within sheet and also sheet-to-sheet, 

Check copy to contract proof. 

 

Inspect for defects before and during run. Set inspection control device and make necessary corrections. 

Follow printing procedures to clearly identify problem areas on loads (red line) and note on checklist and breakdown. As well as communicate re-occurring issues to supervisors 

Troubleshoot press problems. Request training if needed. 

Troubleshoot plate problems and try to fix at press when possible. 

Understand coater and its various applications 

Perform preventive maintenance per schedule. Request maintenance whenever needed. 

Perform roller maintenance. Order new rollers as needed. 

Maintain optimal press chemistry. Monitor peripheral equipment. 

Train and develop crew - including participation in performance appraisal. 

Supervise and assist crew in completing all duties. Assign new duties as needed. 

Complete - Printing checklist, Spreadsheet and VOC reports. 

Collect and input production information (Plant Data Collection). 

Submit complete information to internal customer. 

Requisition necessary parts supplies and service. 

Request materials in a timely manner. Communicate urgency of materials needed. 

Participate in the team process. 

Maintain a clean and safe work environment, report any unsafe situations immediately.

Learn and follow all safety rules. 

Ability to work in a high stress environment to meet customer delivery dates. 

Willingness to work overtime on all seven-week days and assist in all manufacturing related functions, as required by supervision.
